What is a Precinct Caucus?

Precinct caucuses are the foundation of Minnesota's Republican Party. The Caucus process kicks off the 2026 election year. Caucus is the first in a series of meetings where grassroots Republicans like you come together to endorse candidates, select delegates, and shape the party platform.

This is where your voice matters most. The decisions made at caucuses ripple up through the entire party structure — from your local precinct all the way to the Republican National Convention.

What Happens at the Caucus?

Choose Delegates
Elect delegates who will represent your precinct at future conventions. These delegates will endorse state and federal candidates, including for Governor.  If you want to become a delegate to the SD42 convention, you must attend your precinct's caucus or submit a Caucus Non-Attendee Participation Form. 

Build Your Local Team
Select volunteers who will organize political activities in your precinct — maintaining contact lists, holding meetings, and powering campaign efforts.  Getting to know people in your precinct is an important step.

Shape the Platform
Present resolutions on issues you care about. If your fellow attendees support your resolution, it advances to the next convention and could become part of the official party platform.

Building Community
Besides electing precinct leadership and delegates to the SD 42 convention, after the precinct caucuses, we'll have a chance to come together in the cafeteria for some cookies and conversation as a district (BPOU).

Where is My Precinct's Caucus?

The individual caucuses for all 22 precincts in Senate District 42 will all be held in separate classrooms located at Wayzata Central Middle School (CMS).
